EXPLORING THE HIDDEN AND INTIMATE
In a world where sexuality often remains hidden, Dark Rooms allows audiences to step into the unspoken and intimate spaces of desire. Through immersive VR storytelling, users follow protagonists as they navigate sexual awakenings, confront societal taboos, and embrace their authentic selves. The project creates a virtual environment to explore sexual encounters and personal narratives without requiring real-world participation.

TECHNOLOGY
The production blends documentary filmmaking, video game development, performance design, and spatial narrative techniques.
For recording the protagonists, volumetric capture technology was primarily used, allowing their performances to be fully integrated into the 3D VR environment. This method creates a lifelike, embodied presence, deepening both the storytelling and the emotional impact of the experience.
Volucap’s Volumetric Capture
Volucap’s volumetric video capture records real people in full 3D, preserving their movements, expressions, and spatial presence.
With over 3000 Megapixels of processing, 65+ Megapixels per camera, and 132.48 GB/min data rates, performances are seamlessly integrated into virtual environments for true embodied presence.
