Tova Friedman’s Holocaust Survival Story Recorded at Volucap Studio

Potsdam, 08.08.2025: Tova Friedman, a Jewish American therapist, social worker, author, and academic from New York City, visited Volucap to share her story of survival during the Holocaust – about her time in the camps, the transport, and the horrific experiences in Auschwitz.

Tova, along with her mother, survived unspeakable horrors, and today, using Volucap’s immersive volumetric capture technology, her story is being preserved for the generations to come. The recordings will be archived and used to create immersive extended reality documentaries, allowing audiences to experience the past in the most emotionally impactful way possible.

The Importance of Recording Contemporary Witnesses with Volumetric Capture

Volucap believes that the stories of contemporary witnesses are vital to preserve, and that they must be captured in the most immersive and impactful ways possible. This ensures that the emotional and human aspect of the survivor’s experiences can reach audiences in a way that traditional media cannot. Thanks to Volucap’s cutting-edge volumetric technology, it is now possible to record people telling their stories in 3D, creating an experience where the audience feels as though they are standing right next to the speaker.

Volucap’s high-resolution camera system captures over 3000 megapixels, allowing for photorealistic detail and making it possible to capture every emotion and nuance in the survivor’s face and body language. This level of fidelity ensures that the authenticity and realism of the experience is maintained, offering a powerful tool for viewers to understand the past.

Never forget the past, but remember that it’s up to you to shape the future. Only by preserving the stories of survivors for future generations can we hope to prevent such atrocities from happening again.
